Press Kay makes return with ‘The Spot’
After a four-year hiatus that left fans eagerly anticipating her next move, multifaceted recording artiste Press Kay re-emerges with a refreshing new sound that signals growth, intention, and undeniable artistry.
Her upcoming release set for Friday, The Spot, is a smooth, emotionally charged offering crafted especially for lovers.
Known for her versatility and ability to effortlessly navigate different musical lanes, Press Kay has never been one to box herself in.
From high energy dancehall tracks like Come for the Knockas, featuring Charly Black, Good Gyal, Title featuring Chronic Law, to introspective moments like Destiny, distributed by Ghetto Youths International, her artistry has always reflected a dynamic creative spirit.
However, with The Spot, she leans fully into vulnerability, intimacy, and connection delivering a track that feels both personal and universally relatable.
The Spot was produced by platinum-selling hitmaker Robert Livingston. The record carries a polished yet soulful production that perfectly complements Press Kay’s signature sound.
The work energy between the artiste and the producer is evident, as Livingston’s rich, layered instrumentation creates the ideal backdrop for Press Kay’s melodic delivery and heartfelt lyrics.
The Spot is more than just a song, it’s an experience. Built on themes of love, presence, and emotional connection.
Press Kay recalled that the creative process behind the song unfolded organically. She had gone to the studio for a meeting when the beat started playing, and she told Livingston she had come up with a hook. After hearing it, Livingston loved it and urged her to record it right away. She added that once they recorded and played it back, the producer started singing the hook, “meet me by the spot, spot, spot,” and remarked that it was catchy and that people were going to love it.
Press Kay shared that she feels honoured to finally be working with Livingston, noting that he has managed legends like Super Cat and Shaggy and has a work ethic that is second to none. She explained that for the past two years they had been discussing the possibility of him producing a track for her upcoming EP, and added that, in the end, everything came together organically.
Press Kay invites listeners into a space where passion meets authenticity, reminding fans why her voice has been missed.
The talented recording artiste said she’s excited to return to the space, sharing that she’s been working behind the scenes on her EP. She added that she missed releasing music and seeing fans’ reactions, and mentioned that she’s also looking forward to getting back on the road to perform across Europe, Africa, the US, and beyond.
The Spot is available on all major streaming platforms April 24.
