Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens into JWPL semis
DEFENDING champions Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens are the first semi-final qualifiers in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League, after big wins over Springers United and WiFi United, respectively, in games played on Saturday.
Christina Salmon scored six times as Frazsiers Whip hammered hapless Springers United 11-0 in their Group B game to improve to 24 points from eight straight wins, while Tuanashae Hamilton scored a double as Arnett Gardens blanked WiFi United 6-0 to lead Group A with 22 points from eight games.
Los Perfectos are now within a point of securing a return trip to the semi-finals after coming from behind to beat Federal United 4-1 in their Group B game.
Frazsiers Whip led 3-0 at half-time with goals from Salmon; Shanel Spence, who scored a double; and Danishca Rattray, before running riot in the second half with eight more goals.
At the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, Arnett Gardens were well on their way by half-time, leading 4-0 before adding two more goals late in the second half.
At Spanish Town Prison Oval, home team Federal United, chasing a first win over the Manchester-based Los Perfectos, got off to a good start, taking the lead in the fifth minute through Yasheka Lewis.
They held the lead until the 69th minute when Venecia Reid scored the equaliser and opened the floodgates as Los Perfectos added three more goals in a seven-minute span later in the half.
Adrianna Morris gave Los Perfectos the lead in the 76th minute, Trishelle Cassanova made it 3-1 in the 78th minute, before Tanesia Vasell scored a fourth in the 83rd minute.
Proven Girls slowed Cavalier’s quest for another semi-final appearance, beating them 1-0, with Bryanna Turner scoring the winner in the 71st minute.
Real Mona beat UWI Women FC 2-0, with Monica Bosiljevac scoring in the 57th minute and Tiarra Vidal in the 88th, while Real MoBay AFC and Mile Gully FC played out a 0-0 draw at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, St James.
