KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) is preparing to launch a mobile app that will make it easier for customers to access a wide range of business services and receive timely filing reminders.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Registrar, Shellie Leon, explained that the app forms part of the agency’s ongoing digital transformation strategy, aimed at enhancing convenience and improving service delivery.

She was speaking during a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) ‘Think Tank’ held on Thursday.

Leon explained that the mobile app will provide companies and business-name holders with reminders about annual returns and renewals, helping them remain compliant with their statutory obligations.

“The COJ app will be sending reminders to companies regarding the filing of their annual returns and to businesses regarding the renewal of their business names,” she said.

The software will also enable users to check the status of documents submitted to the agency, allowing customers to track progress in real time.

Additionally, customers who regularly visit the COJ’s offices will be able to request service tickets through the app before arriving, reducing wait times and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Leon noted that these features are designed to address long-standing customer concerns about delays and accessibility.

The registrar indicated that the digital platform will complement the agency’s expanding suite of online services, which now enable customers to register businesses, file annual returns, renew or close business names, and access several other services electronically.

She pointed out that the move to mobile access reflects the COJ’s commitment to meeting customers where they are, making services available through modern and convenient channels.

Leon is encouraging members of the public to take advantage of the new app once it becomes available, noting that it will provide greater convenience for businesses, entrepreneurs, and members of the Diaspora seeking to interact with the agency remotely.

The launch date for the application is expected to be announced by the COJ later this year.
