Don G brings weekend vibes with ‘Raise All Glasses’ on WYFL riddim

Last December, word making the dancehall rounds was that a hot new beat would hit the market in early 2025. The project’s name is WYFL, and it was endorsed by none other than Shaggy.

Singer Don G felt that buzz in Luxembourg, a landlocked country in Europe where he has lived since 2017. He was determined to record a song on the ‘riddim’ which is co-produced by DJ Mac and Crashdummy.

After persistently prodding the producers, he cut Raise All Glasses on WYFL. It was released in March.

“I went to the recording studio and laid my vocals on the beat and came up with Raise All Glasses. It’s a party/club banger with weekend vibes, lyrics clean as usual. I then sent it to one of my engineers in Jamaica to mix, who is DJ Cash Flow Neil, before sending it to DJ Mac for variation, and he liked the track,” Don G disclosed. “I also posted a one-minute snippet on all my social media platforms of me in the recording studio voicing the song, and it gained a lot of traction.”

With songs by heavyweights such as Vybz Kartel, Mavado and Spice, WYFL has lived up to its hype. Being on such a hot beat is a big deal for Don G whose previous songs have a conventional reggae feel.

“It’s very important to me because it lets me show my versatility, even though I have a few dancehall songs in my catalogue,” he said.

Don G, who is from St Catherine, has performed throughout Europe since settling in Luxembourg nine years ago. He has also recorded roots-driven songs such as Free, Real Warrior and Internal Fire.
