The roar at Caymanas Park tomorrow won’t be for the distance horses or the young claimers. It’ll be for the comeback.

At 5:00 pm, six sprinters will load into the gates for the $1.75-million Reggae Trophy over five furlongs (1,000m) straight. But really, all pairs of eyes will be locked on one: Legacy Isle.

The two-time Mouttet Mile runner-up hasn’t been seen since December 27, 2025. That day, he turned the five and a half furlong (1,100m) Christopher “Chris” Armond Sprint into a procession — 10 lengths clear in 1:04.2, eased up. Since then, silence.

Barn whispers. Morning works. Now, 126 days later, Rohan Crichton sends him out, and the straight course might not be long enough to contain him.

Raddesh Roman knows the assignment. Break clean, sit second, and cruise by when ready. Legacy Isle galloped five furlongs in 59.0 with four furlongs (800m) done in 46.0 on Saturday, April 18.

This is a Mouttet Mile horse dropping into a sprint. The class gap is a canyon. But races aren’t run on paper. In gate one, Pack Plays has other ideas. Ricardo Mathie tried him at eight and a half furlongs (1,700m) on April 6, and watched Rideallday beat him 22 lengths.

That experiment is shelved. The American is back to what he does — run fast, early. His 1:06.4 for five and a half furlongs last August says he belongs at this trip. Richie Shakes will have to send him hard from the rail. If he steals a length or two, the complexion changes.

Stalking them both is Money Market. Gary Subratie doesn’t bring them over if they can’t run, and this six-year-old bay horse hasn’t missed the board at five furlongs in over a year. He won in 57.2 in February. Emelio McLean will let the two speed horses soften each other up, then go for home. He’s the one Legacy Isle has to put away. If the favourite feels the layoff in the final 100 yards, Money Market will be there to collect.

And don’t sleep on Mighty Gully. The filly just won at the distance in 57.4 seconds. She gets just less than 20 pounds from Legacy Isle. Tajay Suckoo knows how to rate her, and if Pack Plays and Legacy Isle lock horns through 22.1, she’ll be the one flying late down the outside. Robert Pearson has her razor sharp.

Another One loves the five-furlong straight. The problem is this is Graded Stakes. Anthony Nunes knows it. The horse will run his race.

Rainsville, the seven-year-old veteran, is here for the appearance money. His best days are behind him.

So it’s set. Speed inside with Pack Plays. Class in the middle with Legacy Isle. Consistency and a closer’s kick with Money Market. A live long shot with Mighty Gully. But strip away the tactics, the weights, the form lines. This is about Legacy Isle. Two Mouttet Miles, two seconds, both times chasing champions home. Today, there’s no Rideallday, no  Funcaandun — just 1,000 metres of straight Caymanas turf and five horses trying to stay in his slipstream. If he’s 90 per cent fit, he wins. If he’s 100 per cent, he embarrasses them.

The Reggae Trophy goes through Legacy Isle. The others are running for second.
