Man dies after being struck by car in Mandeville

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was struck by a motorcar on Grove Road in Mandeville on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Valentine Gentles.

Police report that about 6:55 pm, Gentles was walking along Grove Road when he reportedly stepped into the path of a Toyota Premio motor car.

He was struck by the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

He was subsequently pronounced dead at hospital.

Police in Manchester have raised concerns over recent fatal crashes involving a number of pedestrians since February and are urging pedestrians and motorists to exercise caution while using the parish’s roads.
