DBJ takes commitment to the classroom
THE Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) marked Read Across Jamaica Day with a team of volunteers deployed to St Jude’s Primary School and Mona High School to share stories, spark curiosity, and encourage students to see learning as a pathway to possibility.
DBJ volunteers participated in classroom activities at both schools, reading aloud and engaging students through interactive sessions designed to encourage a love of reading.
The bank also made donations to the libraries of both schools to support their resource centres.
“Today’s readers are tomorrow’s business owners, innovators, and leaders,” said Charlene Wong, public relations and corporate communications manager at DBJ.
“Reading builds more than literacy. It strengthens imagination, confidence, critical thinking, and communication, the very skills that will help shape Jamaica’s next generation of entrepreneurs and nation-builders,” added Wong, who underscored DBJ’s commitment to its mission to support initiatives that invest in Jamaica’s human capital and long-term economic future.
