No hype. No excuses. No prep race. Trainer Rohan Crichton pointed Legacy Isle at the $1.75-million Reggae Trophy on Saturday, May 2, 2026, and told Caymanas Park to find out what “first run back” looks like when you’re built different.

They found out in 57.1 seconds (23.1 x 45.1) for 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.

This was the six-year-old American-bred bay horse first run back since his win in the Christopher “Chris” Armond Sprint on December 26, 2025. Seasonal debut. No pipe-opener, no soft spot. Crichton sent him straight to the deep end and dared the water to be cold.

The starting gates crashed open for the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward and for about three seconds, Caymanas Park held its breath. Mighty Gully and Tahjay Suckoo came out running, and Raddesh Roman let Legacy Isle stride up beside them, flank to flank. Eyeball to eyeball. For a heartbeat, it looked like we had a fight.

Then they reached the dummy rails and everything changed. Roman didn’t move much. He just showed his mount the whip and Legacy Isle took it personal. Two strides. That’s all it took to break Mighty Gully’s heart. Four strides and the race was over. The rest was just theatre. What followed was violence in motion — not wild, but surgical.

A bay machine in full flight, ears pricked like he was out for a morning gallop. Roman sat almost motionless, a statue on a comet. Behind him, Pack Plays (Richie Shakes) and Another One (Joy Haynes) were running hard just to keep the camera in frame. The wire came and the margin was 10 ¾ lengths.

But the gap between Legacy Isle and the rest of this division can’t be measured in time or distance. It’s measured in belief. No rust. No doubt. No questions.
