Enhanced Games begins Sunday with two Jamaicans set to compete
At least two Jamaicans are expected to compete in the drug-fueled Enhanced Games that are slated to begin Sunday, May 24, in Las Vegas.
Sprinters Denae McFarlane and Shockoria Wallace both joined the roster of athletes earlier this year alongside runners including American star Fred Kerley and Guyana’s Jasmine Abrams in the track and field category, and swimmers including Antani Ivanov of Bulgaria, Miguel De Lara Ojeda of Mexico, and Emily Barclay of Great Brita
The Enhanced Games brands itself as an elite sports competition and performance products company.
Athletes taking part have been allowed if they choose to use performance-enhancing drugs, which has drawn criticism from major sporting organisations who cite concerns about safety and integrity.
Upwards of 40 athletes are competing in track and field, swimming and weightlifting, according to US media reports.
The organisers have promised substantial prize money, including world record bonuses of up to US$1 million for any records broken at the event.
The Games are streaming free on Roku, Rumble, Twitch, Kick, and YouTube.
