The Stefan Miller era
Pacing Supreme Ventures for a digital future
WHEN Stefan Miller walked through the doors of Supreme Ventures in May 2020, the world was at a standstill. It was the beginning of a pandemic, retailers were facing limited operations due to social distancing, and the Acropolis Gaming Lounge had shut its doors.
For many executives, navigating a business under such severe strain would have felt like an impossible starting point. For Miller, it was fertile ground for transformation. By October of that same year, under immense pressure, the company had pivoted to offer products online and launched SV Games.
Fast-forward to today, and that same tenacity has propelled Miller into the role of chief executive officer for Supreme Ventures Gaming Limited (SVGL).
Miller’s ascension to CEO is backed by over 15 years of executive experience across industries, with senior roles at Cable and Wireless Jamaica Limited, Advantage General Insurance, Digicel Group, and The Facey Commodity Group. A chartered accountant and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, he brings a formidable blend of financial acumen and operational foresight to the top job. But it is his philosophy on disruption that truly sets the tone for his tenure.
“The business world sometimes talks about disruption as something that happens to you,” Miller explained. “I believe in disrupting ourselves before someone else does it for us”.
This proactive stance underpins his vision for the next three to five years, which he summarises in one word: Digital. He is quick to dispel the fear that digital transformation equates to job losses or human replacement. Instead, he views it as a fundamental shift in how the company works, how it delivers to customers, and how it can scale globally. This strategy is already bearing fruit, notably through SVGL’s foray into Ghana as the technical services provider for Game Park.
To maintain SVGL’s position as a regional powerhouse as it approaches its 25th year, Miller has outlined three non-negotiable priorities: Relentless product innovation, recognising that markets shift and consumer tastes evolve; digital-first customer experiences, aiming to deliver world-class, consistent and personalised interactions across every touchpoint; and people development, investing in talent and building a culture that attracts the best minds not as a support strategy, but as the strategy.
Having risen through the ranks internally, Miller possesses a deep, interconnected view of the Supreme Ventures ecosystem. This vantage point allows him to spot and dismantle operational silos, which he describes as “one of the great silent killers of growth”. As such, his leadership style is heavily focused on accessibility and trust.
“The closer you are to your people and your business, the sharper your decisions and the faster your response when it matters most,” he noted. He is championing a massive cultural shift aimed at genuine collaboration, operating under the simple but powerful ethos: “One group. One team.”.
For aspiring Jamaican professionals looking to emulate his success, Miller offers a counterintuitive piece of advice: “Stop chasing the money.” He encourages young leaders to chase experience, volunteer for difficult assignments, and trust that the financial rewards will follow the growth.
“My journey to this seat was not a straight line, and it was not built on chasing the next pay grade,” he reflected. That relentless drive for self-improvement extends far beyond the boardroom.
Outside of work, Miller is an avid runner who loves “chasing miles”. But he admits his toughest competitor is his own wife.
“We run 5Ks together, and I’ll be completely transparent, she’s been winning. I have not beaten her yet,” he said, laughing. “But I am training, I am focused, and I fully intend to change that.”
Whether he is pacing himself for a weekend 5K or steering the region’s largest gaming company through its next era of digital expansion, Stefan Miller remains a man on a mission.
