E-Dee returns to hardcore dancehall with ‘Come Link Me’ and ‘Heartbreak’
Twenty years after first hitting the Billboard chart with Ms Triniti, E-Dee returns to a hardcore sound with Come Link Me and Heartbreak, his latest songs. He produced both for his Clarendon Records.
The Los Angeles-based artiste is hoping to duplicate the success of Bounce Along, his collaboration with Ms Triniti, which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales Chart in 2006.
“Yes, definitely, that was my first major breakthrough. That song became a big hit in Jamaica and solidified my place in the hardcore dancehall space,” E-Dee told Observer Online.
Come Link Me and Heartbreak maintain a steady flow of releases by Clarendon Records, which the deejay launched last year, as a salute to his home parish. They are a follow-up to She’s Loyal, Pretty Girl and We A Rebuild which came out early this year and December, respectively.
E-Dee is a senior member of the growing Los Angeles dancehall scene. He has recorded several albums and numerous singles, as well as appeared in a handful of movies including the autobiographical Out The Gate.
His latest role will be the lead in SoundBwoy, a movie currently in post-production. Directed by American DJ JFX — a major player on the LA hip-hop/dancehall scene — it looks at the sound clash phenomenon which is a big part of Jamaican sound system culture.
Mr Vegas will also star in SoundBwoy.
