Jamaican model Romae Gordon shines in WWD eyewear spread
Jamaican model Romae Gordon continues to cement her return to the global fashion spotlight, starring in a new editorial for Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) showcasing one of this summer’s biggest eyewear trends.
The editorial, titled “Heavy Metal Eyewear Trend: From 90s Inspired Shields to Sharp Rectangular Frames”, features Gordon modelling sleek, futuristic looks paired with designer sunglasses from luxury fashion houses including Prada, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren and Gucci.
Shot in New York City by photographer Vanessa Granda, the spread combines sharp tailoring, leather outerwear and dramatic silhouettes in a high-fashion nod to the resurgence of 1990s-inspired eyewear trends. The editorial was styled by Alex Badia, with hair by Andrew Chen and makeup by Shaina Ehrlich.
“It was super easy to translate the vision for the creative team,” Gordon was quoted as saying in a release from Sheldon Alexander Group on Thursday. “The looks are so me — I loved the movement, the edge, the sleekness of the direction throughout.”
Gordon came out of retirement last year and has since been booked by several of the world’s leading luxury brands. Her comeback began with Versace’s Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2026 show in Milan, but gained wider industry attention after she made an exclusive runway appearance for designer Mathieu Blazy’s couture debut in January 2026, and later walked for Proenza Schouler.
Global fashion platform Models.com subsequently named Gordon its “Model of the Moment”.
