Tower Band to launch mixtape at Supa Heavy Wednesdays
Since emerging on the music scene in 2015, providing musical accompaniment for several established reggae and dancehall acts, Tower Band has stamped its presence on the live music circuit.
Known for its showmanship, energetic performances and distinctive approach to presenting dancehall music in a live-band format, the group is preparing to launch its new mixtape, Dancehall Future, at Supa Heavy Wednesdays on June 3 at Jangas Soundbar and Grill in New Kingston.
“You can expect a night of energy, performances, fun; a night filled with music, lyrics and guest artistes. We’ll be bringing the house down,” Andre “Kryss Ras” Barnes, bandleader and drummer, told Observer Online earlier this week.
The 16-track mixtape will be officially released on the night of the launch and features collaborations with Charly Black, Rytikal, 10Tik and Yaksta. The project was produced by Rayon “Prof” Smith and Barnes, while the mixing was handled by DJ West of Zip FM.
“The songs on the mixtape cover a range of topics including matters of the heart, uplifting songs and inspirational messages,” said Smith.
Dancehall Future is powered by Winchester Xavier Associates Jamaica Limited and Stage Sound Solution and will be released through the Tower Music Group label.
Barnes believes Tower Band distinguishes itself from other musical aggregations.
“We are a dancehall performing band. We are the only band that’s bringing dancehall music as one of the bands of this generation, and we want to become a force to be reckoned with by creating an impact with this generation. We take our music seriously, and we ensure that the songs are connecting. That, for us, is the focus,” Barnes shared.
