Corinaldi Avenue completes perfect season with fourth-straight VMF U-13 title

Corinaldi Avenue Primary completed a historic “perfect” season to win their fourth-straight St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 title after beating Catherine Hall Primary 2-0 in the final played at Wespow Park on Friday.

Corinaldi Avenue did not concede a goal for the entire season, including 10 first-round games, quarter-finals, semis, and final, outscoring their opponents 34-0.

In the consolation play-off, Ozaine Henry scored a double as John Rollins Success Primary defeated Anchovy Primary 2-1.

Henry opened the scoring in the 39th minute, Alique Cole equalised for Anchovy in the 41st minute before Henry scored the winner in the 50th minute.

Corinaldi Avenue dominated the final but had to wait until the 22nd minute when leading goalscorer Riomario Powell beat goalkeeper Devonte Hylton at his near right post with a free kick from just outside the area with his 14th goal of the season.

Omarion Morgan, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and Best Midfielder, doubled Corinaldi Avenue’s lead when he slammed a shot past Hylton early in the second half, in the 35th minute.

As expected, Corinaldi Avenue dominated the postseason awards, being named Most Attacking team, Best Defensive team, while Michael Thompson claimed the Best Defender award.

John Rollins Success Primary was named Most Disciplined team, goalkeeper Renaldo Bartley the Best Goalkeeper, and Haniyah Brown the Best Female Player, while Catherine Hall Primary was named the Most Improved team.
