Electricity restored after fresh outages strike Jamaica
Power outages were reported across a number of parishes on Tuesday morning, marking the second major electricity failure in a matter of days.
In a release, electricity provider Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) said customers lost service due to a loss of gas supply to the generating units operated by South Jamaica Power Company (SJPC).
According to the company, power supply was restored to most affected customers within 30 minutes, and all customers impacted by the outage have since had their service restored.
Observer Online received reports of outages in at least eight parishes, namely Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine, St James, Clarendon, Manchester, St Mary and St Ann.
The widespread disruption comes less than a week after a rare islandwide blackout left the entire country without power on Friday night.
