Elegance Ballroom Experience to fuse fashion, music

Elegance Ballroom Experience to fuse fashion, music

Isaiah Laing, conceptualiser and promoter of Elegance: The Ballroom Experience, says the July 19 affair will be the perfect blend of high fashion and quality entertainment.

The event will be held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel’s Ballroom from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

“A lot of people, from different age groups, want to go and enjoy themselves. However, sometimes because of where the parties are held patrons don’t really want to go. So, I made sure to find a very safe location. They’ll get a chance to dress up and wear all their nice clothes that they previously didn’t have any event to wear them to. We’re giving them that option. This is going to be a series,” Laing told Observer Online.

Entertainment will be provided by Master Rogj, Krazy Kris, Welton Irie, and DJ VJ Snow. Guests will also be treated to hors d’oeuvres and wine. The best dressed couple, as well as the best dancer will be rewarded with US$1,000, respectively.

Part proceeds from this event is in aid of the JCF Convalescence Home in Black River, St Elizabeth.

Adding that planning has been going excellent, so far, Laing explained the decision behind the lineup at the turntables.

“These DJs play the kind of music that is needed, especially for a location like that. There will be no rowdy music,” he said.

Laing is well-known as the principal for popular stageshow Sting. He added that although planning this event has been simpler, there are still technical components.

“This is a bit easier, but it’s been very technical, too, because of the location and the expectation of what it will be. For example, when I chose DJ VJ Snow, that was because for his sets, he has the accompanying video on a screen. So, the experience will be enhanced,” he explained.

Laing added: “Tickets will be available on touchstonelink.com, as well as outlets including Don P Complex and Sharmz Curry Pot—both in Spanish Town. Kingston outlets will be: Fontana Pharmacy Waterloo, DLux Restaurant and Lounge, and Wok Express Restaurant.”

Meanwhile, Ramona Samuels, publicist for the event, says that it will undoubtedly provide a memorable experience.

“The ballroom ambiance in summer is what makes this event unique. The elegant dress code and musical selections from the best era of souls, disco, R&B , lovers rock, is also something to look forward to. We’re encouraging party lovers and lovers of souls, R&B, disco, and fans of luxury, elegance, and fashion to enjoy an evening of sophisticated enjoyment,” she said.
