Police found dead after being wanted for girlfriend’s murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) who was the main suspect in a murder investigation has been found dead in Brown’s Town, St Ann with what investigators theorise was a self-inflicted wound.
The dead cop has been identified as 50-year-old Maurice Alphanso Fennel, of a Cambridge, St James address.
Observer Online sources say Fennel, who was recently transferred to the Major Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency, was being investigated by the Manchester Division for the murder of a missing female he was believed to be involved in a relationship with.
He reportedly arrived in Browns Town on Wednesday about 9:00 pm and was staying with a couple in the area. It was revealed that they were his friends and he would visit them occasionally.
It is alleged that he sent text messages to friends and in his church group telling them goodbye and that he was going to kill himself.
His Glock pistol was found at the scene after his body was discovered while unconfirmed reports are that the missing woman’s body was also found on Thursday morning.
More to come.
