John Holt’s son plans Jamaica promo push for ‘The Tide Is High’

Brian Holt, son of reggae legend John Holt, is preparing to visit Jamaica next month to build on the positive response to his rendition of his father’s classic, The Tide Is High.

The Connecticut-based singer and his management team, Whatage Music, are pleased with the feedback the single has received since its release. They are now preparing to strengthen its promotion through a Jamaican promotional run in November.

Publicist Ralston Barrett of The Reggae PR Agency is coordinating the visit, which will provide opportunities for Holt to discuss the single, connect with Jamaican audiences and introduce his forthcoming projects.

The push comes as the singer prepares an EP for release in November, followed by a full-length album planned for 2027. The album is expected to feature 12 to 13 tracks, combining selections from John Holt’s extensive catalogue with Brian’s original material.

The Tide Is High offers an introduction to that wider project. Brian’s interpretation features an updated reggae arrangement, reflecting his intention to preserve the song’s familiar character while appealing to contemporary listeners.

Alongside his recording commitments, Holt has been taking vocal lessons and developing his songwriting as he works to establish his own musical identity.

“I want to remain humble and passionate about my music and hope others will enjoy my music and performances,” he said in an earlier interview.

With the single receiving encouraging feedback, Holt and his team are looking to the Jamaican visit to build momentum ahead of the releases to come.
