Three teams seek back-to-back wins in JFC qualifiers
Three teams, Faulkland FC of St James, Axum SC of St Mary and Lucea FC of Hanover, will be going after back-to-back wins today when the Jamaica Football Championships Qualifiers continue with five games.
Another three teams will also make their first appearance in the competition that will see two teams replace Progressive FC and Holland PYC, who were relegated from the Championships.
Brown’s Town and King Football Academy of St Ann and Cross United of Clarendon will make their first appearances today.
Thirteen teams from across various Major Leagues, divided into four groups will play-off for the promotion spots with the winners of each zone advancing to the semi-finals.
Faulkland FC, the first winners of the JFC (then Tier II), coming off a 3-0 win over Russia FC in their opening game, will take on Coopers Pen in a Group D game at Jarrett Park.
Shanoy Anderson, who scored twice in their opening game, is expected to lead Faulkland FC against the Trelawny team, coming off a 2-1 loss to Lucea FC.
Lucea FC will be away at Llandilo Sports Complex to Russia FC, who will hope to make amends after coming up short on Wednesday.
Axum SC, who have played in the Championships before, will face St Ann’s Kings Football Academy at Westmoreland Oval in a Group B game, while York FC will hosts Browns Town at York Sports Complex in a Zone A game.
Axum had beaten Portlanders FC 2-0 in their opening game while York had drawn 0-0 against Cedar Grove in their game.
In the other game, St Elizabeth’s Vineyard FC and Cross of Clarendon will be seeking their first win of the competition when they meet in a Group C game at the Vineyard Community Centre.
