Brianna Lyston third in 100m at Ostrava Golden Spike meet
Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston was third in the women’s 100m at Tuesday’s Ostrava Golden Spike meet- a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event, running 11.18 seconds (0.5m/s).
In her first competition since April 25 when she ran a season’s best 10.94 seconds at a meet in Clermont, Florida, Lyston trailed home behind Poland’s Ewa Swoboda who won with 11.09 seconds and New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs who was third in 11.12 seconds.
Lyston has not been listed in this weekend’s JAAA National Championships, joining a number of top athletes who have opted not to compete.
Meanwhile, former World Athletics championships silver medalist Britany Anderson was sixth in the 100m hurdles in 12.87 seconds (-0.1m/s).
Nadine Vissser of the Netherlands won a close race with 12.65 seconds, just ahead of Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland who was second with 12.66 and Marione Fourie of South Africa who placed third with 12.68 seconds.
