St Elizabeth teenager charged in deadly machete attack on family
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A teenager accused of murdering his brother and injuring his mother and younger sibling during an incident at their St Elizabeth home on Saturday has been formally charged.
Lorenzo Williams, 19, of Stephenson Town, Seaview in St Elizabeth, is charged with murder and wounding with intent.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Travis Williams.
According to reports, around 12:30 am, Lorenzo, Travis, their 43-year-old mother, and 14-year-old brother were at home when an argument developed. It is alleged that Lorenzo became enraged and used a machete to attack his brother, inflicting multiple chop wounds. He is further accused of using the same weapon to injure his mother and younger brother.
The police were summoned and the injured persons were transported to hospital for treatment. Travis was, however, pronounced dead.
Lorenzo was reportedly held by citizens after the incident and handed over to the police. He was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
