Business House domino league opens at Jacisera Park
The much-anticipated National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Business House Domino League will get under way this evening with all matches set for Jacisera Park.
Play is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm and will run into the night as companies from across Kingston and St Andrew battle for early bragging rights.
Tournament chairman and President of NADB Humbert Davis said the league is in good shape heading into the new season.
“I expect a good tournament this season,” Davis said.
“The teams are well-prepared, the interest is there, and Jacisera Park will be full of energy. People love dominoes and the business houses always bring their best,” Davis told the Jamaica Observer.
Davis stressed that competition must come with respect.
“I encourage fair play. This is about skill, strategy and pride for your company. But it must be played the right way. When we respect the game and respect each other, everybody wins and the league grows stronger,” he said.
Eight teams will battle through the preliminary round, with the top two teams from each Zone advancing. Organizers said tonight’s results will set the early pace for the championship race.
Zone 1 is consisted of National Housing Trust (NHT), Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information (MOESYI), GraceKenndy Money Services (GK), and the Jamaica Observer.
Zone 2 is made up of Covenant Insurance Brokers (CIB), Post and Telecommunication Department (PTD), Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), and Port Authority (PA).
In the opening round, NHT will battle GK and Jamaica Observer take on MOESYI in Zone 1 action, while CIB will face BOJ and PTD oppose PA.
