Beryllium confirms ‘incident’ at ABMs, says investigation underway
Beryllium Limited has confirmed “an incident” involving automated banking machines (ABMs) under its security coverage, saying it is working closely with the Jamaica Constabulary Force while also conducting a full internal investigation.
The statement from the security company follows last weekend’s theft of an undetermined sum of money, believed to be in the millions, from ABMs at Scotiabank’s Portmore location at Braeton Parkway in St Catherine.

Reports reaching Observer Online are that between 3 pm Saturday and early Sunday morning, masked men broke into the ABM service room and stole a large sum of cash.
In its statement, Berylium said: “Our priority is the safety of our personnel, the security of our clients’ assets, and establishing the facts surrounding the incident.
“As the matter remains under active investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” the company added.
Beryllium said it remains committed to supporting its clients, “maintaining the highest standards of security, and implementing any additional measures deemed necessary based on the outcome of the investigation.”
