Uplift returns to reggae with ‘Love Potion Riddim’

Jamaican-Canadian recording artiste and producer Uplift is making a return to his reggae roots with the release of the Love Potion Riddim.

The multi-artiste project features reggae singer Hezron and Nigerian reggae-pop artiste Pupa Tee, blending authentic Jamaican reggae with international influences.

For Uplift, the project marks a return to the music that first inspired his career.

“It’s been a while since I worked on a reggae project. I wanted to create something people could connect with, and seeing how much reggae is loved during my tour of Nigeria gave me even more motivation,” he said.

Although the riddim was completed in just one day, the concept had been developing for months. Uplift said the title reflects the magnetic power of love and the positive energy he hopes listeners will experience.

Inspired by the work of Arif Cooper, Jah Cure and Romain Virgo, the project combines traditional reggae with a contemporary sound aimed at both local and international audiences.

“Hezron is one of the artistes I’ve always looked up to, and Pupa Tee brought a fresh Nigerian flavour that gives the project another dimension,” Uplift said.

His own contribution to the riddim is equally personal. The song was written more than 25 years ago for a former girlfriend but remained unreleased until now.

“I wrote it when I was deeply in love. I never planned to record it, but this project gave the song the right home,” he shared.

Now based in Canada, Uplift says exposure to different cultures has broadened his musical perspective while reinforcing the importance of staying true to his Jamaican roots.

“The world needs love, and reggae has always carried that message. When people appreciate my music, it inspires me to keep creating.”

With the Love Potion Riddim already generating positive feedback, Uplift is focused on expanding its reach while preparing more reggae, dancehall and Afro-inspired releases.

The Love Potion Riddim is now available on all major digital streaming platforms.
