Popular dancehall artiste Chronic Law, whose given name is Ackeem Campbell, has been detained once again by authorities in the United States (US).

Confirming the detention, the entertainer’s manager, Alexandre “Bashy” Jones, called on the public to remain patient as the legal process unfolds.

In a statement issued to World Music Views on Monday, Jones said, “We are aware of the reports regarding Chronic Law’s detention in South Florida.  At this time, I ask the public, members of the media and fans to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course. Our legal team is actively handling the matter, and I have full confidence that it will be addressed through the appropriate legal channels.”

According to reports, Campbell was booked by Broward County law enforcement on firearm-related charges on July 5, 2026.

This marks the second time this year that the artiste has been detained in the US. In January, he was held by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) before being released in March.

His weeks-long detention inspired the release of an EP titled ICE (Inside Cold & Empty), centred on the experience.

Addressing the latest arrest, Jones said the team would not be making any additional public statements while legal proceedings are ongoing.

“I kindly ask everyone to refrain from speculation or the spread of unverified information while this matter is being addressed,” he said.

Jones also thanked fans for their continued support.

“Chronic Law and our entire team sincerely appreciate the continued love, prayers and unwavering support from fans around the world. We ask for your patience as we allow the legal process to unfold, and updates will be provided if and when appropriate to do so,” he said.
