Yoni Epstein elected president of GSAJ
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Yoni Epstein, chief executive officer of itel, one of Jamaica’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, has been elected president of the Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ).
Epstein was elected during the association’s 13th annual general meeting, held at the Montego Bay Free Zone on Tuesday. He succeeds Wayne Sinclair, who completed a two-year term as president.
The new executive team comprises Gloria Henry as first vice-president, Leezo Wallace as second vice-president, Phil Taylor as third vice-president, Linda Lanford as general secretary, and Wayne Sinclair as treasurer. The directors are Tamara Moulton, Joy Clark, Egbert von Frankenberg, Don Gittens, and Sheree Wallace.
Epstein returns to the presidency after serving as the association’s inaugural president in 2012, a role he held for four years. He said he is eager to lead the sector at what he believes is a critical point in its development.
“I’m actually very excited about being back. As an entrepreneur, and as someone who started my business pretty much around the same time the association started, I’ve seen this sector grow from 13,000 employees to as many as 70,000, and now to about 40,000. I think this is a pivotal point to re-inject myself into the industry and help take it to the next level of growth, especially with the technology boom that we’re seeing these days,” he told reporters.
The newly elected executive team will assume office on Saturday, August 1.
