Comprehensive traffic, parking plan set for Sumfest’s St Ann début
ST ANN, Jamaica — Organizers of the upcoming A Taste of Reggae Sumfest at Plantation Cove, St Ann, are assuring patrons that extensive planning and coordination have gone into creating a safe, efficient, and seamless experience from arrival to departure.
With thousands expected to attend the event, transportation and traffic management have been a key priority in the months leading up to the show.
Downsound Entertainment, producers of the event, have been working closely with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and other relevant stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan designed to support traffic flow, minimise delays, and ensure an efficient experience for all patrons.
The integrated traffic management strategy will include coordinated traffic control measures and personnel positioned along key routes leading to the venue, helping to manage the movement of vehicles before, during, and after the event.
A major component of the transportation plan is the festival’s Park-and-Ride programme, which offers patrons a convenient and hassle-free alternative to driving directly to the venue while helping to reduce congestion in the surrounding area. Patrons who utilise the service will enjoy a comfortable journey with dedicated shuttle transportation, allowing for faster movement from the parking locations to the showground and a more efficient arrival experience.
Three designated Park-and-Ride locations will be available on event night to meet shuttle services that will transport guests directly to and from the venue:
* Discovery Bay Sports Centre – serving patrons travelling from western Jamaica, this location can accommodate approximately 1,500 vehicles
* Pearly Beach – serving eastbound patrons, this location provides parking capacity for approximately 400 vehicles
* Seville Great House – Also catering to eastbound patrons, this location can accommodate approximately 1,530 vehicles
Organizers are reminding patrons that access to the Park-and-Ride shuttle service requires a valid Park-and-Ride pass and are encouraging guests to secure their passes in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient arrival experience.
Park-and-Ride passes are priced at $1,500 for cars, $2,000 for SUVs, and $2,500 for buses, and can be purchased at reggaesumfest.com.
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of Knutsford Express for a comfortable and convenient journey to A Taste of Reggae Sumfest. By booking transportation packages in advance, guests can secure their seats early and avoid the uncertainty of last-minute travel arrangements.
Patrons may also utilise Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) shuttle services as an additional transportation option.
For patrons who prefer to park on the venue grounds, multiple parking options will also be on sale.
The Medallion Special Parking Pass, priced at US$200, offers a premium arrival experience, enhanced security, and parking closest to the festival grounds.
The Gold Parking Pass, available for US$25, provides preferred parking access with a shorter walk to the venue, while the Silver Parking Pass, priced at US$10, offers the largest general parking option available to patrons.
Parking passes are currently available at reggaesumfest.com, allowing patrons to plan ahead and secure their preferred parking option before event day.
These transportation measures form part of a wider operational strategy focused on delivering a world-class festival experience. From traffic management and transportation to security, guest services, and overall event operations, organisers say every detail has been carefully considered to ensure patrons can focus on what matters most, the music, the culture, and the experience.
As the countdown continues, patrons are encouraged to plan their journey early, secure their transportation or parking arrangements in advance, and arrive prepared for an unforgettable night.
With a historic line-up, a world-class production, and a comprehensive event plan in place, A Taste of Reggae Sumfest is set to make its St Ann début as another defining moment in the festival’s legacy.
