Williams resigns as head coach of Arnett Gardens
Arnett Gardens will be on the hunt for a new head coach as Phillip Williams has tendered his resignation with immediate effect on Wednesday, July 8.
Williams, who took charge of Arnett Gardens in June 2025, told Observer Online that he resigned for “personal reasons”.
“I have decided to resign from my position at the club. My reasons are entirely personal and have nothing to do with the management or the supporters,” said Williams.
“The management has supported me fully throughout the season and I am very grateful for that. I wish the club every success going forward,” he added.
Williams had replaced Xavier Gilbert last season and led Arnett Gardens to its seventh spot on 58 points and just missed the top six playoff by two points after winning their last four games. From their 39 games, Arnett Gardens won 17, drew seven and lost 15 times.
Williams, who made a name for himself at St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), also coached at Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United in recent times.
With Jerome Waite leaving Tivoli Gardens, speculations are rife as to who would replace Williams. Waite has led Arnett Gardens to three titles.
Efforts to get a comment from Arnett Gardens proved futile.
