Jamaicans advance in 100m at NACAC
Jamaicans led the qualifying in three of the four age groups in the 100m as the NACAC Under-18/23 Championships got underway on Friday in Apizaco, Mexico.
Bouwahjgie Nkrumie and Lavanya Williams led the men and women’s under-23 while Kai Kelly led the boys’ under 18 section for the final set for later on Friday.
Nkrumie ran 10.22 seconds (-1.0m/s) to win his semi-final heat while Damor Miller was second overall with 10.26 seconds (0.5m/s).
Kelly ran 10.52 seconds (1.4m/s) in his heat and Tyler Morgan clocked 10.68 seconds (-0.7m/s) for second best.
Williams clocked 11.32 seconds (0.5m/s) to lead the under-23 women while Alana Reid was second in her heat with 11.55 seconds (0.7m/s).
In the under-18 girls section, Malayia Duncan ran a personal best 11.74 seconds (0.8m/s) to book her spot and will be joined by Daniela Clarke who qualified with 11.98 seconds (1.0m/s).
