ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A man was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation and break-in at a minimart in Ballard’s Valley near Junction, St Elizabeth Saturday morning.

The incident is among the latest developments in St Elizabeth where police over the last 12 hours have also seized two firearms and arrested two robbery suspects in separate incidents as part of the Area Three ‘Operation Reset’ targeting criminal activity.

A highly placed source said about 3:00 am police were alerted to a break-in at the minimart in Ballard’s Valley and while responding four armed men reportedly challenged the cops in a gunfight. One of the men was subsequently shot and rushed to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A manhunt is presently underway in search of his cronies.

Hours earlier police acting on intelligence went to two locations, one at Oxford, the other at Burnt Savannah, where the two firearms were seized.

In another incident police also nabbed two men who detectives have so far identified as suspects in multiple cases of break-ins and robberies committed across the parish.
