Kingston taxi operator charged in connection with alleged knifepoint robberies
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 27-year-old taxi operator has been charged after allegedly holding up two women at knifepoint.
Dennis Miller, otherwise known as “Brown Man,” a taxi operator of a Kingston 2 address, has been charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation and receiving stolen property following two robbery incidents in Kingston 17 on July 8.
Reports from the Elletson Road Police are that between 1:30 pm and 2:20 pm, Miller, armed with a knife, approached and robbed two women of their belongings in two separate incidents on Windy Way and Cove Avenue, both in Harbour View, Kingston 17.
Following the second incident, Miller was observed entering a grey Daihatsu Mira ES motor car as he fled the scene. He made off with two handbags containing two mobile phones, cash amounting to $33,150, and other personal items.
Both incidents were reported to the police, and an operation was launched to locate him.
A short time later, lawmen intercepted a vehicle matching the description, which was being driven by Miller. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the stolen items belonging to the women.
Miller was arrested and later charged on Friday, July 10, following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
