Decomposed body found in bushes believed to be missing St Ann man
ST ANN, Jamaica — A body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered in bushes in the Bamboo community of St Ann on Monday.
The remains are believed to be those of 66-year-old Owen Hamilton, also known as “OG”, who was reported missing nine days earlier.
A close relative who visited the scene told Observer Online that the body was too badly decomposed to be positively identified. The family is now awaiting the results of a forensic examination to confirm whether the remains are those of Hamilton.
The body was reportedly discovered by a farmer who came across it while in the area on Monday morning.
Hamilton, a resident of Steer Town, St Ann, was last seen on Saturday, July 4, while attending a grave-digging exercise in Bamboo.
Following his disappearance, relatives offered a reward of $500,000 for information leading to his recovery.
Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
