Love Made Simple
True love rarely arrives with fanfare. Oftentimes it whispers in the small gestures that say more than words can express. Throughout the courtship of Razzack White and Jamilla Tait it was precisely these understated moments of care that anchored their hearts and led them beautifully to their happily ever after.
Destiny stepped in on September 11, 2016, when their paths crossed at a birthday gathering for Razzack’s father, Robert White, in St Mary. From the instant their eyes met, Razzack was spellbound.
“Razzack saw me and was sly in asking about me. He asked a family member ‘Who is this young girl you have on the verandah? And why is she here now? Shouldn’t she be in school?’” Jamilla shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV)
. What began as playful banter quickly blossomed into a conversation that kept them talking the whole evening.
A few months later, they embarked on their first date. Navigating the discovery of each other’s quirks, likes, and dislikes, it was Razzack’s gift for poetry, however, that drew Jamilla in further.
“He took a small act of buying me icy mints and making it special. He recited a poem to me using words he thought of and the little sentences written on each icy mint that he handed to me,” Jamilla said. “Our first date was a moonlit dinner by the sea, and over the years he continued to surprise me with thoughtful gestures that reflected how well he knew me,” Jamilla reflected.
It was through these gestures, alongside countless other shared moments, that she realised she had found her soulmate.
“None of those moments were extravagant, but each reflected the care, intention, and love he poured into our relationship. They reminded me that the strongest relationships are often built through simple moments shared together,” Jamilla said.
On September 26, 2024, during a getaway to the Dominican Republic to celebrate Jamilla’s 29th birthday, Razzack proposed.
“He had organised a photo shoot at a picturesque section of the hotel which he only told me about an hour before. He purposely walked with my shoes in his hand and I thought he was being nice only for him to have a reason to get on one knee,” Jamilla recounted. “After adjusting my shoes, I only saw him take my hand, pull a box from his pocket, and in the only moment he has ever been lost for words, said: ‘Will you marry me?’ I was filled with tears of joy as I had no idea he was planning to propose. He even did the right thing as I have always said if you are to ever propose, please make it private and not in any public place.”
Christmas arrived early for Razzack and Jamilla on December 19, 2025, as they exchanged vows at Immanuel United Church in Tower Isle, St Mary. The sanctuary, beautifully decorated by Jamilla’s cousin Jovanna Miller, set the scene for memorable celebration — a welcome joy following the extensive clean-up efforts in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.

Jamilla, a vision in a Kenneth Winston mermaid dress, made her way up the aisle escorted by her brothers, Jabari Higgins and Adonai Stephenson, to the strains of First Time by Teeks. At the altar, under the guidance of Rev Collin Cowan, the couple committed their future to each other.
Post-ceremony, the celebrations continued at the reception on the church grounds. Following dinner, loved ones raised their glasses to toast the newly-weds on their next chapter. Razzack and Jamilla then cut their two-tiered wedding cake by Charmaine Rodney, before sharing a first dance to On Purpose by Ni/Co.
A honeymoon for the new Mr and Mrs Razzack White is scheduled for a later date.
