Trainer Borris McIntosh gets first winner of the season
Trainer Borris McIntosh recorded his first winner of the season on Saturday, July 11, 2026, when Money Box took the fifth race in impressive fashion.
Under Tevin Foster, the six-year-old bay horse scored by 4¾ lengths in the three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming event for $350,000-$250,000. The race was for non-winners of four, run over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.
Money Box wasn’t the best to leave the starting gates at the off but raced up to be close to the pace. Up front,
Adenosine (Shaheem Gordon), The Gifted One (Evertte Clunis), and JJ Warrior (Dane Dawkins) cut out the early fractions together.
Coming to the dummy rails with two furlongs (400m) to run, Irish Wish (Nicardo Carr), Yorkist (Devon A Thomas) and Money Box entered contention. But it was Money Box who took charge and drew clear to win easily at the wire.
The Gifted One ran on for second, with Blitz Strike (Reyan Lewis) finishing third. The final time was 1:03.1.
Money Box is bred by Soul Warrior out of the Bernardini mare Trinket Box.
