Elderly man perishes in St James house fire
ST JAMES, Jamaica — An 87-year-old man has reportedly died after a fire destroyed his home in Top Melbourne, Montego Bay, during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Cassiena Anglin, affectionately known as “Cassy”.
According to reports, residents spotted the house engulfed in flames shortly after 2:00 am and immediately alerted the Jamaica Fire Brigade. Two units from the Montego Bay Fire Station responded to the incident and tackled the blaze.
During cooling-down operations, firefighters discovered Anglin’s remains among the charred debris inside the house.
The police were subsequently called to the scene, and the body was removed for a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
