Police constable plead guilty to manslaughter in 2025 killing of D’Jonnay Graham
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Police constable Patrick Walters pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Wednesday in connection to the fatal shooting of D’Jonnay Graham in Essex district, Richmond, St Mary on June 25, 2025.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in its ruling to the Independent Commission of Investigation (Indecom) in July 17, 2025, directed that Walters be charged for the offences of using a firearm to commit a felony, contrary to section 14(2) Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act and murder contrary to common law.
Walters pleaded guilty to the charge of using a firearm to commit a felony when he appeared in the St Mary Circuit Court on Wednesday. In relation to the murder charge, he pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter.
The matter will be transferred to the Home Circuit Court in Kingston for sentencing, which is scheduled for September 25, 2026.
Constable Walters was remanded in custody pending sentencing.
