Minor among three charged in connection with shooting of taxi operator
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Three males, including a minor, were arrested and charged in connection to the shooting of a taxi operator on Duke Street in Kingston on June 23.
Charged are 18-year-old Raheem Dunningham of Wildman Street, Kingston, 18-year-old Jayden Wynter of Rhumbo Lane, Kingston and a minor.
Reports from the Central police are that about 1:30 pm, a man picked up the three accused after they reportedly posed as passengers.
Upon reaching a section of Duke Street, the driver reportedly heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation to the right side of his chest.
The injured man reportedly lost control of the motor vehicle and crashed into a parked motor vehicle. The three accused then reportedly fled the scene on foot.
The victim was assisted to the hospital, where he was treated and admitted.
Following investigations, all three accused were arrested and subsequently charged. They were charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony.
They are scheduled to appear before the Gun Court on Friday, July 24.
