#BoundToBeBrowns
It is an old truth that the strongest love stories are built on the foundation of friendship. For attorney-at-law Shannon Mair and operations manager Courtney Brown, years of shared laughter, memories, and trust naturally evolved into the most important relationship of their lives.
How They Met
Their story traces back to 2008, when a mutual friend first introduced them. From that first interaction the chemistry was immediate.
“From the very beginning we enjoyed each other’s company and could talk about almost anything. My first impression of Courtney was that he was kind, dependable, and genuinely cared about the people around him,” Shannon shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).
“He had a quiet confidence, a great sense of humour, and a protective nature that made everyone feel comfortable.”
For Courtney, it was Shannon’s driven nature that left a lasting impression.
“I admired her warmth, her ability to make people feel at ease, and the calm confidence she brought to every situation,” Courtney said.
What followed was a steadfast, years-long friendship filled with daily check-ins and messages. It wasn’t long, however, before romantic feelings started to surface.
“Somewhere between the laughter, the late-night conversations, and always looking out for each other, we both realised there was a mutual attraction. It happened naturally, and neither of us could ignore what we were beginning to feel,” Shannon said.
The Proposal
Acknowledging the feelings they had both harboured, Shannon and Courtney made the leap from friendship to romance. It didn’t take long for the quiet realisation to settle between them — they had each found their lifelong partner.
“Even after all these years we still feel like two people who have just fallen in love. We laugh together, know each other’s unspoken cues, and still manage to give each other goosebumps. What began as friendship has become a lifetime of love, faith, family, and choosing each other every single day,” Shannon said.
The culmination of their love came when Courtney proposed to Shannon on November 15, 2024. On Shannon’s birthday, Courtney made sure it was not just a celebration of life but a celebration of their future during an intimate dinner at the Regency Bar and Lounge.
“He spoke about our journey; how far we had come together; how we had built a life, a home, and a family and said that marriage was the natural next step in our story. It was a moment grounded in everything we had already built, requiring nothing more,” Shannon reflected. “After that speech, he went down on one knee, and the moment was beautifully captured by photos and videos taken by the restaurant staff. It was simple, emotional, deeply romantic, and reflected exactly who we are as a couple.”
The Wedding
On May 26, 2026 Shannon and Courtney exchanged vows at Laughing Waters in St Ann. Adhering to the all-black dress code, guests arrived at the location decorated by Plush Touch. The décor featured subtle black accents and elegant white calla lilies, perfectly complementing the breathtaking ocean backdrop.
Shannon, glowing in an ivory strapless gown from Helen G Bridal, walked up the aisle on the arm of her father Paul Mair to Beyoncé’s Die With You. Guided by Reverend Dr Norman W Higgins, Shannon and Courtney sealed their union before their loved ones.
The Reception
The celebrations continued at the reception, at which a delicious dinner by Sheldon’s Catering was followed by toasts to the newly-weds.
The evening’s energy would then shift into friendly rivalry later as the bridesmaids and groomsmen faced off in games, creating some of the night’s most entertaining highlights. Swept up in the joy of the occasion, Shannon and Courtney then took to the floor for their first dance as husband and wife to Beyoncé’s cover of the Luther Vandross classic So Amazing.
