THE Lions Club of St Andrew has continued its ongoing support of the visually impaired community with a series of donations to the Jamaica Society for the Blind (JSB), aimed at improving services and mobility for its clients.

In a recent presentation, Lion Janelle Walker, chairperson of the club’s Health, Sight and Disabilities Committee, handed over a cheque valued at $10,000 to the executive director of JSB Conrad Harris.

The money is to assist with the purchase of a new printer, a critical piece of equipment used to produce material in accessible formats for the organisation’s clients.

In a separate initiative, the Lions Club of St Andrew donated a supply of white canes to the JSB for providing an essential mobility tool for persons who are blind or visually impaired.

Both donations form part of the Lions Club of St Andrew’s ongoing commitment to supporting people with disabilities across the parish, with a particular focus on programmes that promote independence and access to essential services for the visually impaired community.

Officials of the JSB expressed gratitude for the club’s continued partnership, noting that such contributions play a vital role in helping it to carry out its mission of empowering the blind and visually impaired community.
