Hanover man charged with possession of unlicensed gaming machines, criminal property
HANOVER, Jamaica—A Hanover businessman was arrested and charged in connection with the possession of unlicensed gaming machines and possession of criminal property (POCA), following an incident in the parish on Tuesday, July 28.
He has been identified as 43-year-old Hopeton Brissett, a businessman of Middlesex district, Dias, Hanover.
Reports are that about 6:00 am, a team of lawmen, armed with a search warrant issued under the Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act, went to Brissett’s home, where a search was conducted.
During the operation, the police discovered 11 gaming machines in the living room.
Five of the machines were found to be unlicensed and contained a total of $707,300 and US$50.
The gaming machines and the cash were seized, and Brissett was arrested.
He was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
