KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Network Rural Woman Producers (JNRWP) is supporting 300 rural women farmers and artisans to participate in the 2026 Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show.

According to JNRWP in a press release, the initiative aims to expand market access and advance the social and economic empowerment of women in agriculture as the network observes the United Nations-declared International Year of the Woman Farmer.

While the JNRWP facilitates annual participation of members at Denbigh, President Tamisha Lee said the significant increase in this year’s attendance forms part of the network’s observance of the International Year of the Woman Farmer. It is also intended to support the economic recovery and well-being of members affected by Hurricane Melissa.

“For many rural women, Denbigh is more than an exhibition. It is an opportunity to introduce their products to new customers, build valuable connections and see new possibilities for their businesses,” Lee said. “By enabling more women to participate this year, we are expanding their access to markets and ensuring that the International Year of the Woman Farmer delivers tangible benefits for the women it celebrates.”

For nearly 30 years, the JNRWP has championed the advocacy, leadership and representation of women in agriculture and rural development. It also provides training and resources to help women develop agri-businesses and micro-enterprises.

Over the three-day event, participating members will have the opportunity to showcase agricultural and artisanal products to thousands of patrons.
