Man on weapon charge escapes from St Mary jail
ST MARY, Jamaica – St Mary police are searching for a man who escaped their custody at the Annotto Bay lock-up on Thursday evening.
The escapee has been identified as 23-year-old AJ Anthony McDonald, of an Islington address in the parish, who was being held for alleged possession of a prohibited weapon.
It is reported that McDonald was at the lock-up about 5:30pm, when he requested and received permission to use the bathroom. After going inside the bathroom, McDonald reportedly removed a window and made his escape.
Police have launched a manhunt to capture the suspect and have appealed to him to surrender. They are also seeking the public’s assistance to identify his whereabouts.
