No weapons allowed at Grand Gala celebration, JCF warns
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reminding patrons attending the 2026 Independence Day Grand Gala at the National Stadium on Thursday, August 6, that weapons and other dangerous items will not be permitted inside the venue.
In a release on Tuesday, the JCF said firearms, explosives, knives, igloos, scissors and any other item that could be used to cause serious harm or injury are strictly prohibited.
The police also advised that all individuals entering the National Stadium will be subject to security screening.
According to the JCF, anyone found in possession of prohibited items will be denied entry and may also face prosecution where applicable.
The police thanked the public for its cooperation, saying the measures are to “ensure a safe and successful celebration of Jamaica’s 64th anniversary of independence”.
