MONTEGO BAY, St James — Dream Wknd transformed the Montego Bay Convention Centre into two completely different worlds on Saturday. From the elegance and romance of Daydreams to the nostalgic throwback energy of YUSH, patrons experienced a seamless journey through two distinct eras of music and celebration.

The afternoon belonged to Daydreams, where thousands dressed in all white filled the venue for one of the festival’s most-anticipated events. Against a backdrop of premium décor, unlimited drinks, and an atmosphere that balanced sophistication with celebration, patrons eagerly awaited dancehall’s leading man, Dexta Daps. And the singer delivered exactly what fans had come for.

Opening to deafening screams, Dexta Daps commanded the stage with a performance that blended passion, charisma, and crowd interaction. Couples embraced, friends sang ‘at the top of their lungs’, and phones lit up the venue as fans captured every moment.

His catalogue of hits, including WIFI, Owner, Call Me If, and Breaking News, had the ladies in the audience swooning and singing every word.

For nearly an hour the space became less of a concert venue and more of a shared celebration of music, romance, and dancehall culture, led by Dexta Daps.

For Sophia Khan, who flew in from Birmingham, Daydreams stood out as one of the highlights of Dream Wknd.

“This is my first-ever Dream Wknd, and Daydreams has definitely lived up to the hype. The vibe was amazing, the all-white theme looked so good, and Dexta Daps gave us everything we wanted. It’s one of those events you don’t want to leave,” she said.

As the sun went down, the atmosphere shifted from polished and elegant to playful and nostalgic as YUSH took over.

Presented by Casamigos, the throwback event invited patrons to relive their school days with a uniform dress code that saw party-goers arriving in creative takes on the classic classroom looks. This set the tone for an evening dedicated to celebrating the unforgettable sounds, style, and spirit of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The nostalgia only intensified once the music started. Dancehall star Tifa took to the stage first, delivering a high-energy performance from the opening song. She set the tone for the night with a string of crowd-favourites before passing the baton to dancehall veteran Elephant Man, who raised the energy even further with his trademark infectious hits and signature dance moves. Together, the performances perfectly complemented the event’s retro concept, transporting the audience back to one of dancehall’s most celebrated eras.

The seamless transition highlighted the festival’s ability to deliver distinctly different experiences, each with its own unique personality while maintaining the premium standard patrons have come to expect.
