3-year-old dies in suspected drowning in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Westmoreland police are investigating a suspected drowning following the death of a three-year-old child at a popular attraction in Little Bay, Westmoreland, on Independence Day.
The deceased has been identified as Kayson Barrett of an Ocean Pointe address in the parish of Hanover.
Reports from the police indicate that around 2:45 pm, the child, his mother, and another relative were at the attraction when he reportedly wandered away unnoticed, prompting his parent and the relative to launch a search.
Barrett was later found in a swimming pool on the property and taken to the lifeguard on duty, who immediately attempted to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The child was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police were unable to say if any charges are pending.
