KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 27-year-old man is facing several charges, including murder, after a shooting incident in the parking lot of the Kingston Public Hospital that left a Portmore vendor dead.

Charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, using a firearm to commit a felony, and wounding with intent is Brad Spencer, otherwise called “Chad”, of a Kingston 13 address.

Spencer was implicated in the killing of 29-year-old Damion Henry, otherwise called “Danger”, and the injuring of another man in the parking lot of the Kingston hospital.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 8:00 am, Henry and another man were sitting inside a motor car in the hospital’s parking lot when a silver vehicle pulled up alongside them. Spencer and another man allegedly exited the vehicle, each armed with a firearm, and opened fire at the occupants.

Henry sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the other occupant was shot in the right shoulder. The attackers then reportedly re-entered the silver motor car and fled the scene.

Both injured men were taken to the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department, where Henry later succumbed to his injuries. The other man was treated and subsequently discharged.

The police said that following extensive investigations, detectives obtained witness statements that implicated Spencer as one of the perpetrators.

On July 25, he was taken into custody and later charged on July 29, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

A court date is being finalised.
