Man killed in St Elizabeth dispute
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police have launched a manhunt for a 41-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his brother-in-law in a deadly domestic dispute in Slipe, St Elizabeth Friday afternoon.
Police named the murder victim as 32-year-old Kyle Campbell otherwise called “Son Son”, a resident of Slipe district.
A highly placed police source said about 5:30 pm the men were involved in an altercation when Campbell allegedly brought a machete into play.
Police said the other man reportedly pulled a firearm and shot Campbell.
The injured Campbell was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead while his brother-in-law escaped and is on the run.
Police said investigations revealed that there was a long-standing dispute between the men over land.
The latest incident has increased the number of homicides in St Elizabeth to 21 so far this year.
On Tuesday Operations Officer Deputy Superintendent Owen Brown appealed to residents to utilise the Domestic Violence Intervention Centre in Santa Cruz to mediate and amicably resolve issues following the murder of 50-year-old Nicole Brown and the subsequent dumping of her body reportedly by her 41-year-old partner in Barton Wharf, Lacovia.
