KINGSTON, Jamaica  — With more than 20 years in the game, dancer-turned-artiste Ding Dong delivered another workman-like performance at Daybreak – the brunch affair and one of the events under the Best Weekend Ever series on Saturday.

Patrons understood the dress code and came stylishly attired in cowboy hats and boots, and plenty of dancehall energy at Plantation Cove, to enjoy the vibes at the Western Soiree themed event.

Bringing the morning affair to high energy, Ding Dong and his Ravers Clavers crew danced up a storm and delivered the hits from his extensive catalog.

Against a backdrop of rustic Western décor, the looks became as much a part of the Daybreak experience as the music itself.

Sponsored by Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff, the daytime event combined breakfast and brunch offerings, music and cocktails with the easy-going energy that has made Daybreak one of the signature experiences on the Best Weekend Ever calendar.

For Brand Manager Nadine Hylton, the event provided an opportunity for both brands to connect with consumers within an experience built around self-expression, celebration and shared moments.

“Daybreak is one of those experiences where patrons really make the event their own. You see it in the fashion, the energy and the way people come prepared to enjoy themselves from the moment they enter the venue. Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff are brands that naturally fit into those celebratory occasions, so for us, it was important to add to the overall experience while continuing to encourage our consumers to celebrate responsibly,” Hylton told Observer Online.

As the morning moved into full fête mode, Ding Dong shifted the energy into another gear.

The dancehall entertainer worked through familiar favourites like Stir Fry and Fling yuh shoulda bringing the dance class to the grounds of Plantation Cove.

The performance added another distinctly Jamaican layer to an event already defined by playful fashion and personality, proving that while the dress code may have said Wild West, the energy remained firmly rooted in Jamaican entertainment.

LeAnne, a Jamaican who attends university in Florida, returned home just to enjoy the vibes at Daybreak.

“After seeing the ads on social media, I contacted my friends and decided I would come for Best Weekend Ever. Daybreak is one of the events that I enjoy going to whenever i am in Jamaica, especially during Easter, and this time it’s even better.  Ding Dong you rock,” she told Observer Online.
