KINGSTON, Jamaica  —  In 2024, Priel Morgan, son of veteran reggae singer and Morgan Heritage member Gramps Morgan, released an EP titled Growth.

One of the songs from the EP is the R&B/soul track Fall Apart.  The song chronicles Priel’s life experiences and personal triumphs.

Now, fast forward three years later, the song has been given a reggae remix. This is Priel’s first time venturing into reggae territory.

In an interview with Observer Online on Monday, Priel spoke about the remix.

“I wrote and produced Fall Apart, which is on my EP Growth. My dad and I produced the new reggae remix, and I can’t wait to share it with the fans,” said Priel.

“The inspiration of this song is my personal life and experiences. It is me going through my journey as a young man and seeing my plans and what I thought my future was going to look like fall apart. Through these experiences I’ve learned that not everything we plan for ourselves is what God has in store for us and we have to trust in His plan,” Priel shared.

Priel has been doing music for the last four years. He dabbles into a bit of R&B and pop.

“With this reggae remix, I am now reaching into my roots. To me, music is a feeling and genre and not just a colour,” Priel reasoned.

Asked if he felt any pressure music]ally to maintain a certain standard, Priel said “No, never any pressure, I would say I more so feel the responsibility and the courage to follow my calling that is music as well as upholding my family’s legacy and expanding that legacy beyond reggae music.”

And what does he bring to the table musically?

“I would say music that is authentically me. I went to school for audio engineering specifically mixing and mastering to understand music and sound on a scientific level. I produce, write, and mix all of my releases, so I feel like when people resonate with my music they resonate with me, and that’s one thing I’m looking for from music. Resonance,” Priel disclosed. The 21-year-old said performing with his family in Amsterdam has been one of the biggest highlights of his career to date.

“That place is a very iconic venue, and I grew up watching my dad, my uncle Peter and other family members performing there. So, to have the opportunity to perform my original music there was a full circle moment and has to be my favourite thus far,” he recalled.

Looking ahead, he hopes to carry the legacy of his family, while expanding the reach of his music across the globe, and carrying on the mission to heal people through music.
