KINGSTON, Jamaica  —   Spaces has donated 250 mattresses to families affected by Hurricane Melissa, fulfilling a commitment made by the company to help communities recover from the devastating storm.

The donation is part of Spaces’ “Rebuilding with Heart” initiative, which was launched after the hurricane devastated communities across western Jamaica in October 2025, leaving countless families displaced.

The initiative was born out of a commitment by Founder and Creative Director of Spaces, Janelle Pantry-Coke, to do more than acknowledge the devastation and instead help affected families restore comfort, dignity and hope as they rebuild their lives.

The mattresses were provided by Ashley Furniture Industries, with transportation from the United States facilitated by ECU Worldwide and Freight Handlers. The FLOW Foundation provided further financial and logistical support, while the Rotary Club of Savanna-la-Mar is coordinating distribution by identifying beneficiary families and managing on-the-ground delivery.

Pantry-Coke said the impact of Hurricane Melissa has affected Jamaicans in various ways and that rebuilding requires different forms of support.

“The impact of Hurricane Melissa has touched every Jamaican in some way. Rebuilding requires more than one form of support — it requires financial assistance, physical resources, and emotional encouragement,” she said.

“‘Rebuilding with Heart’ reflects our belief that spaces are more than buildings — they are where families find comfort, security, and belonging. Through this initiative, we hope to help families restore not only their homes, but also their sense of hope.”

Spaces also expressed appreciation to Ashley Furniture Industries, ECU Worldwide, Freight Handlers, the FLOW Foundation, the Rotary Club of Savanna-la-Mar, Scotia, Carlisa Enterprises and Select Brands for their support.

The company said while the initial fundraising activities began in November 2025, the impact of Hurricane Melissa is still being felt in communities across western Jamaica.

Spaces Jamaica is encouraging those who are able to assist to continue doing so, using its platform, partnerships and resources to create social impact and strengthen the communities it serves.
